So instead of their on-field antics, let’s analyse and choose the top 5 cricketers with weirdest hairstyles. A few, like Andrew Russell, Jason Gillespie and our very own Ishant Sharma came pretty close but these five players, mentioned below, stand out for the impact they manage to create on the field and the hairstyle they adorn with it.

  1. Curtly Ambrose

The first match of the Cricket All Stars provided a lot of entertainment for the packed house that had turned up at the Citi Field stadium in New York. Apart from the fours and sixes that were flying all over the stadium, there was another sight that left many a fan watching amused.

That sight was that of Curtly Ambrose and his hairstyle. With very little hair around his head and a strand with beads on them hanging from the centre, it left everybody watching the action in splits.

  1. Sunil Narine

In his own words, he has been wearing it for 5-6 years now and it is easy to maintain and he isn’t looking to change it anytime soon. The hairstyle is quite unlike him in reality for he is said to be an extremely down to earth, shy and introvert personality in the dressing room but the West Indians are known for their funky hairstyles and this one certainly fits the bill in every sense. So long as he keeps on picking up wickets, nobody is complaining.

  1. Andrew Symonds

However, think of Andrew Symonds and instantly your mind tends to waver to his long thick golden locks that would remind some of Godzilla! Add a thick layer of zinc cream on his lips and Andrew Symonds stood out among all those out on the field as if from outer space.

Often ridiculed and questioned about his dreadlocks, the funny Aussie all-rounder always took it in his stride and used to flash his notorious smile that left his fans reeling with laughter till he changed over to all new bald look and has been keeping it ever since.

  1. Chris Gayle:

The man is a cool dude in the true sense with colourful clothes, funny hair, the “Gangnam dance” and an attitude without a care in the world. Not so long ago, he used to sport a huge ball of hair similar to the gangsters of the 80’s look but as he reached his 30’s he switched over to this more sophisticated mature look.

  1. Lasith Malinga

His curly blonde highlighted mop of hair remain in news as much his bowling performances and the man manages to carry it off in a unique way. In some ways his hairstyle is a true picture of himself – confident and different from the others. He is a true revelation coming out of the small island nation of Sri Lanka and just like his bowling, his hairstyle has won a lot of appreciation.

  1. M.S Dhoni

He might have failed to make a big score but his hair certainly got eyes rolling. The bald buzz of the Chennai Super Kings captain reminded us of Mario Balotelli. MS Dhoni has always had his way with his hairdos and who can forget his 72 of 36 balls in Lahore where he got the then Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf to praise his long hair in the post-match presentation.
