He was pushed further down the pecking order at White Hart Lane after Spurs signed Toby Alderweireld from Atletico Madrid and becomes the second defender to leave the club this summer after Younes Kaboul joined Sunderland.
Chiriches joined Tottenham in August 2013 from Steaua Bucharest for 9.5 million euros ($10.3 million), but he was never able to secure a place in the starting line-up under any of his three coaches at the English club.
“We have reached an agreement with Napoli for the transfer of Vlad Chiriches. We wish Vlad every success for the future,” the London club said in a statement on its official website.
He last appearance for Spurs in a competitive fixture came against Stoke in the Premier League clash on May 9 in which he was sent off.
